Sure wish I lived a lot closer than the 400 miles.
The Prairie Coteau Habitat Partnership, in conjunction with the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department, will be conducting a free Landowner Fire Training workshop on April 30 at the Watertown Event Center.
The class will cover such topics as benefits of fire, prescribed fire planning, fire behavior and tactics, South Dakota fire laws and fire equipment.
The class will begin with a check-in at 8:45 a.m. CDT, and the presentation will run from 9-11 a.m. There will be live fire and equipment demonstrations at the Long Lake Game Production Area west of Watertown at 1 p.m.
Attendees should have leather boots and eye protection for the live fire demonstrations.
Registration is not required, but interested parties should contact Cody Grewig at 605-874-8517 or at cgrewig@tnc.org for more information.
