Finally!!!

After 3 years of begging and pleading and negotiating with my wife, she has finally agreed to let me get another puppy next year!!! I've had my heart set on a shorthair since I started bird hunting 15 years ago but my hunting style has always led to owning labs. I've taken the last few years off if upland birds and focused solely on waterfowl with a few game farm trips thrown in. But as I get older I'm getting sick of sloshing through waist deep mud(or maybe I'm just getting lazy) chasing waterfowl. I'm looking at getting back into the swing of upland birds again. I'm super excited to start looking for a breeder. Just thought I would share this with people who might be happy for me as my wife
Doesn't seem to share my excitement.

Getting a pointing dog and getting back into upland hunting is an exciting prospect.

That's exciting. In my opinion, there is nothing better than hunting behind a great gsp. Let me know what you are looking for and I would be glad to help you out in your search. I have a litter on the ground and another nice one coming up. If they aren't what you are looking for, I would be glad to point you to people that may have that suits you.

Thanks JeremyS,

I agree, shorthairs are wonderful to hunt behind. When I first started pheasant hunting all my buddies had shorthairs and I was the odd man out with my lab. I'll be looking for a dog with a lot of natural ability. A breeder in MN would be preferable but not a deciding factor. My wife says it must be a female. It will be first and foremost a family dog, although I do hunt 3-4 times a week so a compitant hunter is a must. Price doesn't really affect me but for my wife's sake we'll be looking to keep it under $800 for the puppy. Id like to be able to do all the necessary training on my own although I'm not against finding a good trainer if need be. My current dog is a 4 year old ylf. Who I primarily waterfowl hunt with but can still get the job done on upland birds. She has hunted both wild and game preserve birds and I've used her a couple of times on grouse with good success. She's hunted with pointing dogs before and is trained to sit when there is a dog on point.
