Finally made the plunge

After visiting this site for a while especially last year just before my first SD phezz hunt, I took a moment to join in the conversation. Started hunting phez in Pa during the late 60s and 70s when Pa had lots of birds. I live in the Va area and lived for many years in the nearby eastern panhandle of WV---which in the 80s had pockets of phezz and quail. I was fortunate to hunt Iowa with my buddy who lives there during the boom years in the 90s and early 2000 period. Last year hunting in SD (during a down year) was the best. I have a couple of flusher dogs and hunt preserves and liberated birds always with another SD trip in mind.

Anyway, pleasure to be here and look forward to joining in the many informative posts.

Welcome. Like you, I had my first SD hunt last year. I'll take a down year in SD anytime.

Welcom

Welcome to the site, like you guys I had my first SD hunt, however for me ND and MT were better producing places. I'd like to go back, although the Pheasant hunting was slow the people of SD and the land made it great.

Had a great hunt in ND some years ago. Never had the privilege of hunting in MT, but I've had some great fishing there.

PTM--I'm hoping some day to hunt ND....maybe plan a couple of weeks next year to hunt different states and places camping out along the way. I won't be starved for information on this forum.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome too.

Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of good guys here and it's a great place to get info. Things are pretty quiet around here now but it will heat up when the SD road surveys come out at the end of the month. I live in Roanoke. Where are you located.

Welcome to UPH! We like stories and pictures of the great outdoors.

If your into duck hunting there is an untapped resource over there in ND if your getting your pheasants early. My ND spots have been slowing down. I think we hit the perfect storm last year in SD, low birds and a lot of corn everywhere. If I go back to SD I'm going in December. This site has the best members of any board on the web.

PTM--I've been doing more duck hunting lately. I'll will be looking into ND duck hunt opportunities. Thanks for the heads up.
