Tough hunt today. Tried some out of the way spots. Found out they must of not been! Found some walk-in not on the map, 3 hens!! Put some miles on the Boots and finally got a nice 20 yd shot. Old bird with a small tail and really underweight!!!! All in All, 5 one day hunts this year in Colorado and bagged 10 Roosters. Was a pleasure watching the pups grow into bird dogs. Talked to a gentlemen who checks the gas or oil wells out there and he told me he seen 200 birds in one field by one of his wells. After a couple weeks into the season they just disappeared like a fart in the wind. Said he saw people hunting the walk-ins every day of the week all season long. Those birds figure it out pretty quick on where to avoid harm!!!! Still have a couple months for release birds to lengthen the season a bit and I am excited for next season already! Hunted all season with 3 bad disc's in my back that need to get fixed here quick!!! It is a bitch walking with your legs going numb!!! Hell , I fall down enough with good legs I don't need any help!!!! It did make me slow down and probably helped on more than one ocassion!!! I hope everyone Had a good season and will help where they can to improve Habitat for the birds we so devotedly pursue!!!!!

My father called yesterday and said they went out to hunt the fields (private CRP and irrigated pivots) out in Holyoke. Saw lots of birds and got plenty of shooting in. He took a friend with him and he said that was the best pheasant hunting he's ever seen. Hopefully your winter will continue to be mild and the hens will produce double broods again this year.
