End of 2024 pics

Don't post to much during the season, for certain reasons. But all in all id say 24 was a good year. Bird population around home (sc southern mn) was pretty good early, but you can see it dwindle as the pressure picks up and the birds get smarter. I purchased a new sbe3 28 gauge this fall and put that thru the paces for the first month.

As soon as november rolled around is when we like to pick up the pace. Cooler weather and a few less pickups out and about , although the temps stayed unusually warm for much of november we were blessed with a shot of snow early and took advantage of it.

December is where I use most of my comp time up and after deer hunting sticky hunt out west ... less pressure.. more birds.... better scenery... everything is better the closer ya get to south dakota!!!

Then of course the annual 10 days with the boys out in south dakota was as good as it gets again!!! Really warm again the 3rd week in October but 2nd trip in November cooled off nicely for us.

Great 2024 bird season all in all... around home bird numbers bers where good. Just about wvery spot ya went to the first month. As for out west I thought it was a lot more spotty. Pockets of birds here and there . South dakota I thought was a little low on bird numbers where we go but plenty to play with.

Oh !!!! Also added another horse to the stable for next year , everyone meet BUCK. He came out of bravo up at coteau view kennels in conde sd . Things are looking promising for this one also!!!!

I just shot the fiocchi 5 shot only thing our local stores had at the time and some black clouds when I needed steel. I'll look for copper plated federal for lead next year
If your looking for non-tox for your 28, I would give Boss a good look. It's all the I shoot and the guys I hunt with shoot. I have 2 28's that I shoot, both A400's and I shoot a combo of 2 3/4 4's and 3" 5's out of them and have no issues with killing birds all season. Just wanted to give you a honest review in case your in the market for some non-tox for your new 28.

Ive had extremely impressive results with the 3" fiocchi golden pheasant #5. 1 1/16 of absolute death. Started shooting a box of 4's and a box of 5's from boss nothing worthe of talking about yet, shot one of each and got a d.o.a bird from close range. Please keep the forum posted next year if you keep lugging the 28 around! Excellent work.

I’ve been shooting Winchester Super Pheasant , 1 1/8 of copper plated 5’s. Very happily surprised with the results. Just bought a flat from Winchester Primer Store yesterday for $269 delivered.

That's a decent price. I've had alot of good luck with the ol red box federal(copper plated with buffer) so that's what I'd like to find. Seams like prairie storm is taking over tho... but I might have to dig into the winchesters a bit. Them 3 inch?
