dead pheasants forever

I was reading a write-up in the American Field (field trial publication) of the Region 7 Championship in Medicine Lodge held back in March. The write-up said the back to back spring blizzards really did a number on the wild quail and that few of the pointers were finding any. In fact, they had to demote it from a championship to a classic because of the lack of bird work. Looked no bueno. Has anyone else worked dogs since the blizzards or made any observations about the quail?
