duck problems

I just started duck hunting. The last time I went out I found that after a while my gun had moisture in it from the morning. I never dropped it in the water or anything like that I just think dew got in it. The first shot I took water slung out the side of my gun. The gun is a Browning maxus hunter 12ga 26in. the wood one. Its a beatiful gun but I don't want to ruin it duck hunting. Ducks are almost as fun as pheasant. I am thinking of selling it off to get a more water friendly gun. My maxus only has 400rounds through it from trap and skeet and a few from hunting. Any suggestions?

take the gun apart when you get home- spray it good with WD40- blow it dry

don't think you should get a different gun- duck hunting in a drizzle is sometimes the best- think of it as part of the hunt- dissasemble and clean- sort of like- you clean up after a hunt

What about the small working parts. I have never pulled the trigger apart. Is that something that will need to be dried out. I pointed a fan at it after I cleaned everything with a silicone cloth.

My dad also has a fine O/U that he no longer duck hunts with because he's afraid of messing up a nice gun. You can certainly just clean it up after the hunt using some sort of chemical spray. Some folks don't like WD-40, but the WD stands for Water Displacement after all. Many use a real gun cleaner, or brake/carb cleaner followed by a good gun oil. I just clean mine really well after the season, or after a "wet" hunt. You could also just go and buy an 870 all purpose and use that as your "beater" gun.

RIE coatings, new finish that won't rust. Had the barrel of my Cortona done and it looks better then new. Been left out in rain 2wice and no rust. I meant to post this here, but put it in the fingure print post. Mine was $40. Any finish

The wood on the Maxus hunter is beautiful. After shouldering and shooting alot of guns, I went and purchased a Browning BPS Camo 12ga. Gnd mtn threw in an extra choke and a nice wrench. For anyone who may think I am favoring Browning I will let you know I have owned other brands but these two guns fit me soooo well. The BPS shoulders like a Maxus but is heavier. The forearms have similar "feel". At this stage in the season why would I go to something completely different?
