Dove season is a relatively new thing up here. Most of the guys in Minnesota never got the chance to hunt them as a kid so many have no interest now unfortunately. Lotta goose hunters here! With the early goose season starting the same day many guys take part in that instead.
Lived in Arkansas for a few years and dove hunted and it was a lot of fun. I even paid to do it one time (only time I've even paid to hunt someones land)think it was $50 and the land owner/guide would cook breakfast and lunch each day for about 20 people that were out there. We only shot something like 9 doves for the 3 guys I went with. The land owner said the reason they were flying so high was because the ground had lot of dew on it, and it would improve by the afternoon. It never did but I'll always remember that excuse. It was a good time anyway.
In Minnesota you'd definitely want to head west maybe even southwest. Back road it until you find Sunflowers. Your doves will be there.
