Dove hunting in North West Colorado?

Working on planning out a hunting road trip for the first week of September. I would like to end up in north western Colorado for the opening weekend of sage grouse. I've never hunted up there so I was wondering from those of you who have if there would be any decent dove hunting during that time as well? Thanks in advance.

Lots of doves in the North west Corner. I however wouldn't even consider hunting sage grouse and haven't in last ten years. The numbers are just not there and It's my opinion they should be protected, just my two cents. Have fun Dove hunting, make sure you bring lots of shells LOL.

Well I'm happy to hear they make there way up to the north west! As for sage grouse, I wouldn't worry about me decimating the population. I've never even seen one of those guys let alone shoot at one. More than likely going to hust be taking the pup for a walk in the field.

Could anyone point me towards a general area up there to try for dove? I have never been anywhere up there and not really sure where to start. Thanks!

More areas in the NW corner were opened last year due to the growing populations. I see many, many, many each year while elk hunting and could never hunt them as that unit was closed. Now it is open & I plan to get up there as soon as I can to try and get my first sage bird this year:thumbsup:
