Dighton

Has anyone been around the Dighton area after Thanksgiving? I was there the weekend after Thanksgiving and the crops were just coming out. Wathed 3 combines cutting a milo field right next to a WIHA.The wind was wrong, so the 75 or so pheasants that did fly out, went right back in to the cut milo. Was hoping the snow and cold would start to limit the amount of habitat that is available.

I'd hunt the cover nearest the milo field that was standing during the early part of the season. Those birds won't be in that milo stubble for long if it is cold enough or there is some snow/sleet. There will be more hot spot reports as the WIHA pressure decreases and the weather intensifies through the month of January.

Good luck!

Thanks Kansasbrittany, I am headed back on the 28-30 of Dec. I will keep everyone posted.

I have a friend that deer hunts in that area and said he saw plenty pheasants, very little quail I wish I had private land to hunt in that atrea.

I can believe it. A wise man once told me,"eliminate 90% of the habitat and you will have a good hunt" Let's all pray for some snow and cold and hope the roads do not thaw.Nothing like driving sideways at 5mph.
