Dallas Area

Hello,

I will be visiting my in-laws over Christmas and would like to take my father in-law hunting over my year old GSP. He's usually a preserve hunter, but I'd like to attempt to find some wild birds. (Not opposed to preserves, but I can stay home in PA and do that) Any body willing to suggest a particular WMA or other public ground within 2 or so of Dallas that would be a good spot. I mostly just wanna go hunt, but having a young dog, it would be nice to find some.

Thank You,

-John

John:

I hate to tell you, but you won't find any wild pheasants within that range from Dallas. Normally you need to go 5 or 6 hours west to the panhandle area. This year, because of the drought, the panhandle hunting will be poor at best.

nothing close by worth a damn, drought was extreme this year, all the way north through Kansas....any public ground would be a longshot at finding a covey or two...take the dog and in laws to a preserve or don't bother going out and buying a license, a waste of time and money for sure.
