I wonder what this is. A young rooster southern MN. Sharpie for reference.

Small grain field nearby?

Almost looks like barley ... maybe wheat. Rare find in southern MN.

Yeah it was on public land and I don't think there were small grain fields anywhere around. There were some weird looking weeds with seed heads on them. I'll try to explore more if I get back there this year.
