Crappie

Any of you guys finding any crappie on the banks yet? Was at El Dorado last weekend, pretty slow. Planning on heading out fishing/camping somewhere this next weekend. Thinking about trying Elk City, had good fishing there 2-3 years ago. Bryan

I’ve been doing well, but mostly fish in a few ponds around the house. Elk City is my home lake. I live very close by. It was world class crappie fishing just a few years ago, but has really been hammered hard as of late, and I’ve heard it’s not been as good.

My family has been hunting Elk City since they impounded it in the 60’s. We’ve killed thousands of ducks there over the decades, but that has gotten a lot tougher, too.

Thanks for the reply. I fished Elk City when school was shut down during Covid (2020) and it was really good crappie fishing. Looking at the weather forecast we may not be fishing anywhere! But hey, not going to complain about the rain!
