Coming home from taking my dog to the vet this morning about a 1/4 mile from my house I saw a Rooster and Hen at the side of the road picking gravel with 5 good sized young ones (about half the size of the hen).......pretty exciting :)........don't get to see a lot of wild ones here in Wisconsin! Anybody else seeing any broods?......and what age/size are the chicks?

I saw a hen with 3 chicks that were sized like you described. Saw 2 roosters about 2 miles away from them. Just driving around scouting for dove spots.

High pressured, stocked area that only receives roosters.

Drove up to the cabin yesterday, we seen 2 young roosters on the gravel road in front of the cabin.
This AM we road four wheeler up to my friends land to put out a bear bait, on the way back we saw a bunch of young pheasants running in and out of the weeds along the edge of the gravel road. Would have to say they were about the size of a grouse.

We planted 4 acres of sorghum (still short)30x40yrd strips of corn, 4acres of beans, scatered sunflower and 4-1acre patches of alfalfa/clover/chicory.
Don't know what the doves are after the most but were seeing 20-30 birds on our fields/telephone lines/gravel road.....mostly 2-3 together
I've never seen this many gathered around our fields.
