One guy, 3 dogs, and 15 birds. I hunted 2 days around Corsica in GPA/WPA areas. Then I stayed in Webster for 3 days. I put up 6 to 10 roosters a day. Most of the birds were young.Sunday I hunted in a t-shirt and the last day (Wednesday) I froze with rain and 38 degrees. The dogs worked hard, especially my yellow female. She hunted from the time her paw hit the ground til she was put in the truck on Wednesday evening. It always amazes me how smart those roosters are.

Congrats. on a sucessful hunt. Sounds like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing. Did you get any pics? Would love to see them. Hope you continue to have a great season and good luck!:10sign:

I took one photo. I have a good camera but I waited too late. I wanted to get a photo of the dogs pointing or a video of them running down. The last 2 days I worked hard for the birds and had to catch them going to roost to finish out the limit. I got lazy. Have a safe and successful hunting year.

Don't short yourself, it's 15 birds. I was having a cold one one evening listening to the guy setting beside me talking about getting 3 birds and being done by 1:00 pm. He said he started hunting at 10:00 am. I told him it was a noon start all week. He was surprised. He had always hunted later in the season and was unaware of the late start. He said he was hunting a WIA just off hwy 12 close to Webster. It pays to read the regs. One guy getting 15 birds in SD was good. It's when you have 2 people hunting, then you need 6 a day which is tougher but possible on public ground. With 3 guys hunting it is very tough to come up with 45 birds in 5 days, 4 guys forget it, you need private ground. I'm talking early season of course. I have no experience in late season. When I hunted I would hit the fields with some relief and a mix of cover. That always seems to produce. I always keep an eye out for a big crp field next to corn for my end of day back up plan to catch the birds going to roost. To me, it seems like the 2nd week of the season is the worst. All the public fields have been hammered and in the mean time very little of the crops are removed so you are left with slim pickings. Happy hunting.

Thanks not sure where 12 came in but I have only hunted SD once and only hunted 3 days so 15 birds or 12 was impossible.
