My wife and sister had the time of their lives at the states Becoming an Outdoors Woman program this past weekend. Wilderness survival, firstaid, roadbiking, archery and geocaching:eek:. Almost forgot, her favorite:shotgunning 102. Only four students enrolled, so they ended up shootin 3 1/2 hours non stop.

Her shoulders in pretty good shape, but her archery injuries......ouch!!!

My wife and her buddies participated in the Women On Target this weekend at Tuttle. We heard about the BOW afterward. Surprising they were scheduled on the same weekend, so geographically close together.

She also had a 'blast'.:D She had the most fun with the muzzleloader and .270. First experience with archery, rifle, and muzzleloader for her.

I'll have to tell her about it. Sounds like more fun next year.

They really loved it, and the price was incredibly reasonable! For about the price of range fees, they got to burn up a lot of ammo and try a pile of guns and bows. And lunch, eye and ear protection, and a goodie bag.

There were five stations. Rifle, muzzleloader, handgun, archery, and shotgun. They got an hour at each station with instruction, demonstrations, and shooting time.

I was a little disapponted that the only station my wife didn't like was the shotgun. I have been trying for probably 15 years to get her to go out with me...:( But she said the shotgun station was too much talking and showing, and not enough hands-on. She said she was still open to the idea of going back out with me and the hand trap to try it in a different environment.

But overall she said it was really fantastic. She couldn't wait to get home and show me her rifle and handgun targets. And I'm a little jealous because I've never fired a muzzleloader before, and she has now shot several calibers of rifles and handguns that I have never shot before.

I'm still really proud of her for trying something new and I know she really enjoyed herself so I'm still holding out hope that someday I might get her into the fields and woods with me... someday...

Thanks Toad, unfortunately we already have plans on the 13th. I might call and see if there are any cancellations for the one this weekend.

If your wife wants to shoot with another woman we could meet up your way some weekend, grill some burgers and throw targets for the ladies.

BOW is a great program. My wife and my mom did it together about 15 years ago and really had a good time. Unfortunately, that's all it turned out to be for them--a fun way to spend a weekend. I keep hoping my wife will give it a try some day. Keep in mind, this isn't a criticism of the weekend as she had a very good time.

On the plus side, she does enjoy shooting wobble trap.
