Another tip

Bring along a floor jack and 4-way. Never know when you loose a tire. Or at least you can aways stop and help some else out in need. Picked this one up not to long ago. Blew a trailer tire on the highway. I pulled over and right behind behind another fellow pulled in and he had the jack and 4-way. Five minutes later we were both on the road. Ever since I have carried and help several folks out. Payback is great.

The floor jack is as indispensible as a tow strap! Gets you unstuck quicker, which is nice!

Another nice thing to bring is some 2X6 or 2X8 boards. If you get buried in mud or a snow drift, you can just jack up the truck and put the boards under the wheels and back out. Works like a charm.

A come-a-long is also a nice addition for folks like me that don't have a winch. It may not have as much power or convenience as a winch, but it is cheap and it often gives just enough tug to get you moving...
