Another Michigan bird hunter joins

Greeting everyone, After about a year of watching this site as a guest I decided to join in on the fun. I am from SW MI and grew up on a farm chasing ringnecks with the farm dog. When the bird population went through a major decline in the late 70s I switch to big game and waterfowl. About 6 years ago a friend invited me to SD for a week of pheasnt hunting and I was bitten by the pheasnt bug again. I now try to make at least one trip to SD annually with my lab that serves as a combination duck/pheasnt dog. A major upgrade from hunting behind a collie in my early days. Here's to a great nesting season.

Welcome. MI folk seem to be joining in droves. Nice.

I can completely relate. Grew up hunting phz behind a collie myself. I also became obsessed with WTs over the past decade, due in large part to our lack of phz in MI.

That was until I got my first bird dog. Nothing compares to hunting with a dog. The local WT population love the fact that I have gotten back into bird hunting. :)

Welcome
My first dog I hunted with as a kid was a Fox Terrrier.
The old farm dogs made for some good times.

Welcome:thumbsup: Labs are great combo dog/pheasant dog. My first farm/hunting dog was a saint bernard cross rat terrier. Now them were the days:) Is there good ducking in MI?

Welcome to UPH, I hope we see you in the discussions regularly.............Bob

welcome to uph. wow a year what took you so long, jump in here and have fun, like the rest of us. welcome agian:):)

Hi Captain, We hunt on Public land so there are a lot of factors that enter in. The first part of the season the local woodies makes for good hunting. After they move out it is a waiting game for the flight birds. Some days are good and others provide plenty of time to wonder where the birds went.

Welcome Home!!!! Those birds have the tendency of bringing you back!!!!! Hope to hear from you often!!!!!
