mnmthunting, Thanks for the welcome! Born in Bagley, grew up in Fosston. I do a lot of work with the park and their "Presenters under the Pines" programs. Mostly having to do with photographing the park or my books on the park. Great park and staff!

I'm near Park Rapids.
Haven't done it for a while. One of the lakes I grew up fishing for Walleyes was Lake Itasca. One of the most scenic lakes anywhere.
Elk Lake is the real source of the Mississippi.
I nice flowing stream comes out of Elk and into Lake Itasca. :cheers:

Chambers creek between the two does exist but doesn't have enough flow rate.
In fact both that creek and the headwaters were dry last fall (2012), first time I've ever seen that!
Itasca is a beautiful lake with no cabins and great fishing. It also has very cooperative eagles that I feed pike in exchange for photo sessions
