Just got back from our annual hunt in the Beadle, Kingsbury, and Clark area. Hunted almost exclusively on public lands. Bird population seemed to be about like last year. Very little standing crops with more soybeans planted than in 2023. We had great dogs this year and found lots of birds near water in the surrounding brush. As usual the fields near corn were the most productive. Only got blanked one day as Sunday temperatures were mild and the wind was eerily calm. Not a sound could be heard that morning. Even the high flying geese were absent. South Dakota is a precious gem to this southern boy. A big thanks to Bob and Kathy Miller for allowing us another opportunity to hunt with them. See you next November!
