A few for the table

A couple friends stopped by this morning from out of town to do a bit of an impromptu rooster hunt. Without much forethought we headed out and hit some regular spots. Birds seem to be a little harder to come by which is of course expected but we managed to kill a few. Dog produced 4 roosters in beautiful fashion leaving easy pickings for the shooter. Fourth rooster gave us the slip after a miss and a wing shot despite bouncing off a fallen tree within 5 yards of one of the hunters.

Alos bumped a coyote out of the last spot where we lost the rooster. Maybe he'll be back for a midnight snack?

As is the case most days, if you wanted to shoot birds you followed the ugly dog. ;) If you wanted to collect the birds you better be willing to fight for em.

These are getting added to a feed this coming weekend with some friends. A few cold ones, some fine table fare, and watching Anderson Silva get a little redemption.

Good going! Wish we would have gotten out. But it wasnt to be.

His feet look better, but what happened to his leg?

Actually drastically edited shortened version.

That dog always, always bleeds when he hunts.

The wounds you see were not the worst.

He's laying on the couch barking in his sleep. Think he's fine!

Yup...Young Bert, the not-right dog, viewed hunting as a blood sport...his blood...right up until his very last hunt on his last day of life.

But you had to stop him, flop him over, and inspect the idiot to find the injuries, because he sure as heck wasn't going to admit to them.

HUGE gashes from fence lines, eyeliner bloody flesh under both eyes from going through thorns and multiflora rose, he looked like a dog's version of a ROCKY film.

GWP...sheez.

Kismet love the pic. He's got that "not right" look in his eyes. :D Mines proven to be pretty resilient on the barbed wire so far but he's got some after market protection that has probably saved me some vet bills. The eyes and the feet have been what really take a beating. he of course pays them no attention till he's home liking his wounds.

Here's one of my favorite snow pics of mine that yours kind of reminded me of.
