How is the season looking for you now that it has started? If you have been hunting private land, how have the bird numbers been?

Opener on Saturday 12 noon. Public Land.
Missed 1st rooster at 12:02, got 1st rooster of the year at 12:04.
Up to 4 roosters so far, looks to be a fair number of birds and an increased number of hunters so far.
Many state grounds in my area had corn planted and it is just started to be picked. I noticed that 1/2 of the CRP fields have little cover this year. Could be a rough year for the birds if we get more than normal snow cover.

hunting areas for pheasants
I am from out of state working at the Children"s Hospital in Neenah Wisconsin. I have gotten all of my required licenses and have gone on the web to locate some of the wildlife areas, but I would sure appreciate anyone pointing me to a decent hunting area within 30-45 minutes of Oshkosh. I don't have dogs anymore and the last time I pheasant hunted was almost 15 yrs ago. I would just love the chance to kick up a bird.
