I just finished up intro to gunfire on my two young pups. All went well and they both got thier first shot flyer's. Both made the retrieves and brought the birds back alive, nice mouths. Just have to keep plugging away and shootin more birds. The rough part is over. They will most likely even get a rooster later this year. I went out with Lady for a back yard hunt. Kinda bare right now but still found one hen and a rooster, no shot though.

Congrats Ken, sounds like the pups are coming along nicely. Good work.........Bob

My Springer used to have a super soft mouth, but he got spurred and pecked a few times, and now a alive rooster will get a good squeeze, not chewed up mind you, but a nice mark on the breast. It used ti piss me off until one time he was taking a while to retrieve a bird, so I hit the whistle hard and even said fetch em up, he breaks through the weeds with a very alive rooster in his mouth. The bird was on his back pecking him in the side of the head over and over, so I've decided to let him have that squeeze.
