Took a long time friend . . . one that I used to hunt with nearly three to four times a week . . . out yesterday after what had been a three year absence from the field for him. Truck time conversation was as if we'd never had the hiatus, and every bit of what I'd hoped for. It was exceptional catching up.
An added bonus . . . we managed to find some birds even though a late start forced us to hunt fields mostly surrounded by standing corn.
Even better yet . . . he shoots three for four and bags his limit, using a loner gun no less! He's better huntsman and marksman than me, no doubt.
Planning on taking my four year old out late this afternoon, his first pheasant hunting experience, as he's been begging me to do so ever since his older sister joined me last week.
