    Se sd lodging/camping

    I camped at the Dude Ranch in Oacoma. That was free! The Thunderbird Lodge in Mitchell was extremely dog friendly, hunter friendly, and reasonably priced.

    First time to SD - lots of questions...

    I went last year. It was first week in November and warm. Since it was just me and my dog, I decided to concentrate on small patches. It worked out.

    lunch on the hunt

    Tube of German summer sausage, wheat bread, marble Jack cheese, small packets of mayo that I pick up at gas station/hotel. Fruit, water/Powerade zero. Chips. Lawn chair, small rug/mat for my dog to lay on with water and treats near by. Enjoy the silence.

    Check out Standing Rock Reservation. They have a map available. You can purchase your license online. A guide isn't required. Here is a tip, NEVER pay your guide up front for the trip. My friends did and the guy never showed back up.
