    Most Satisfying Shot

We boys was running the creek in the summer and I shot a rooster around 100 yds away with a Mossberg 151m 22 open sights. Great shot bad decision.

How many of you let birds go?

Not a lot of birds here in Ohio. I’ve hunted smaller coverts and let the first rooster I see fly on. Nobody wants to shoot the last one. Two or three times it’s paid off, I didn’t see any others and felt real good about myself. My Shady lady was less than enthused.

    Preserves near Grand Rapids

I went to one preserve around me and my setter came out of there with beggars lice… everywhere. Both ears stuck together on top of her head. It was un-real. She got a haircut and I ain’t ever going back. Due diligence pays off good luck

    hunting sunglass for this fall

I grab whatever is in the truck, if nothing else whatever’s at the gas station. I cannot be trusted to not step on sit on or simply lose a pair of sunglasses. Our set aside here gets tall enough the tops want to poke you in the eye.

    Ticks

Oddly haven’t seen any here in Ohio. Normally quite a nuisance by now. We had a good drought last summer. Maybe a silver lining

Here is a strange tip I heard.

Corn also eats different. Soybeans tend to split. Corn does the same but crumbles and shatters as well, sometimes to dust. We call that pig feed on the combine. It’s already ground. Yes you set yer machine to minimize that but you can’t eliminate it. Already making it easier to ingest and...

    Lots of hunters

What does America look like with 400 million people in it? How bout 500 million? Think your great grandkids will have more or less hunting opportunities? How many people can the land support while not changing the landscape immensely? I’ve been asking this for years. One insane answer I get...

    Ithaca

Always heard the low vs high brass topic. I don’t see how this affects chamber pressures. I thought high brass comes from paper shells and just a hold over. Also RST and B&P make loads for older sweeter guns. I shoot them thru my 1905 Fox

20ga or 12ga for upland birds

12 gauge is the do all workhorse of bird hunting. From Quail and Woodcock to Canadian Geese and Turkey. The 12 gets it done with more lethality. For ease of recoil/carry, ammo available the 20 gauge wins. For cool factor nothing beats purple shells 16 gauge. Sweet spot right in the middle...
