    Crate temperature monitor.

Thank you. Yeah. My pup is a little furnace, so with a cold weather kit he’ll probably be fine in most winter situations and any long distances on the road he’ll be in the cab if I have room for him anyway. My bigger worry is traveling in the summer and keeping him from overheating. Good news is...

    Crate temperature monitor.

Price doesn’t bother me as much as usability. Do you have it set up as stand alone then? What’s the range on it? I’m thinking down the road when maybe a dog friendly hotel isn’t available. Or other similar situations? Did you Velcro it to your crate? I worry if my pup will leave it alone.

    Crate temperature monitor.

Ordered a Gunner crate for my truck. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good temperature monitor set up? Not too worried about the cold, but would love to be able to monitor for the heat. Thank you.

    H&R model121 bolt action

I recently was given a Harrington and Richardson Model 121 20 ga bolt action. Does anyone know where I may go for an owners manual for it? Looking for information on what I can shoot through it (length, type of shot, etc.)

    Plug question

Colorado is one of the states that requires plugs for pheasants, probably because the daily limit is 3.

    Chief upland vest

Used my Chief Upland Over/under today for the first time. It did not disappoint. Full box of shells, full hydration bladder, and eventually 2 quail and 2 dove in the back, hardly noticed it. Love that it rides on your hips like a backpack, can be adjusted so there’s little to no weight on your...

    Hearing protection

good. Not perfect, but better than any other in-ear electronic protection I’ve tried.

    Hearing protection

I bought a set of Tetra Hearing multi-pursuits last summer and used them last fall. They’re pricey, but great. They’re ANR, operate on hearing aid batteries, and only block out things like gun shots. Conversations can be had normally. Developed by audiologists.

    Thursday trip the 28th

Anyone heading to NE Colorado and wouldn’t mind an extra brush stomper let me know. I’m considering it, but it’d be more fun not having to converse with myself.

    Upland brush pants

Update. Tried out my new chaps the other day and I really like them.

    Upland brush pants

Just bought a pair of Banded Tallgrass chaps. Haven’t used them yet. A few years ago I bought a pair of Duluth briar pants, which I like, but I’m hoping with the chaps it’ll be cheaper and lighter packing for trips in the long run.

    Hearing Protection

I bought a set of Tetra hunting/shooting electronic plugs. i think they work similar to the walkers, but they are lower profile. I bought the multi-pursuit so with a push of the button they are supposed to isolate and adjust for the noises that it amplifies. I only used them for coyote hunting...

    Hunting Barr Lake

Anyone ever hunt doves or waterfowl at Barr Lake? Looking for a place to dove hunt that’s not super far from the Eastern metro area.

    What size shot???

4s or 2s are what I’ve used depending on time of year/pressure.

    What size shot???

IMO, 6s are the lowest I’d go with for a quail/pheasant mixed bag. Early season 7.5s would be alright, as long as you have a good pattern and you can keep your flusher in relatively good range. Later season I’ll run 5s on wary, tough pheasants that will run at flush at a distance. Of course...

    fake pheasant

I think the dokken dummies are a good replacement for bumpers to keep your pup from shaking during the retriever. However, for pointing work and finishing retrieving training or wounded critter training, nothing beats real birds. Even just pigeons.

    fake pheasant

Be careful with tennis balls or any other perfectly round ball. Ive seen dogs develop hard mouths due to being able to roll the ball in their mouths. I use them as a last resort.

    Dog Vest or No Vest?

I’ve heard multiple people address the chafing and debris collection. Everyone whom I’ve seen address those 2 issues say to try to loosen the vest a little. Reduces chafing and allows seeds, sticks, rocks to slide through. Makes sense, although I haven’t tried it yet.
