I love December hunts, especially when majority of people are thinking ice fishing! I hunted solo on Wednesday Dec 18 and it was a fun day! I’ve never shot my December limit but was close, should have had it but regardless fun day out in the field with the pup.

Any December bird has its positives! I smacked the biggest tail of my career but the bird was average size. No complaints and yes it was a wild bird!

Last weekend I spend the weekend at the cabin in the Alexandria area. We hunted birds Friday and Saturday morning and realized there was 6 inches of ice so we deviated from birds and ended up catching 20 walleyes Saturday evening. Very good decision. Six inches of ice is good for me.

What a nice morning to hunt! I was out walking the fields as well, the fresh snow was perfect. They birds were holding tight. My buddy and I managed three birds, should have easily had our limit but we missed a few easy shots.

Hi Rude One, I guess it depends what part of the state you are hunting. I would say if you are hunting within an hour drive of the Metro then yes I would agree with you assessment. Outside of that range, it hasn't seen so bad this year from my observation.

All due respect but you cannot expect to hunt your normal October areas right now. I was out last weekend and 90% of the birds were in their "December areas".

No change of plans here. I just plan to hit a small parcel here and there. Nothing too intense. Keep the dogs save and bring lots of water!
