A great trip to SD this year!

My Georgia group had another great trip to SD this year. About 2/3 of the corn was out. Excellent weather for the opener and the following 4 days. Lots of birds too but dead whitetail deer all over the place because of blue tongue. I may go back in December.

what is going on in SD.

Water in some potholes for sure. Some low corn will have to sit another week at least too.

Combining corn wide open in SE SD - in the area I hunt anyway. Most will be gone on my farms by Saturday - except for strips.

    SE South Dakota

My farmers finished up their beans last week and started getting corn out Saturday. They say there seem to be more birds this year than last and last was good. Corn should be out by the opener. Good times!

I'd love to but I've got eight guys in our group. Thank you anyway. We had a farm near Parkston several years back we hunted (closer to Tripp) and I don't remember any public areas. I do know there were not as many birds there as there was 20 miles west of Tripp. Good luck.

    Rates of guides

"1. A farmer/land owner allowing a few groups a year to stay in an old house or trailer and hunt his ground for a fee. Good for everybody. He keeps a little better habitat around, helps the wild life, and some people from areas devoid of wild birds get a good hunt." This is our scenario and has...

How often do you encounter the law?

Trout fishing or otherwise on the water is about it. They pretty much leave you alone unless you are acting like an idiot.

How often do you encounter the law?

Most game wardens in Georgia are responding to tips and chasing the frequent flier violators. Everybody knows who they are too.

How often do you encounter the law?

Once in 26 years pheasant hunting in SD but several times hunting or fishing in Georgia.

    Let's Bitch (Can't Hunt)

I can only find Elijah Craig in single barrel now. No more small batch. I see the Blanton's is in it's rightful place - top shelf. A fine Perdomo cigar and a glass of Blanton's (or two) sitting in the machine shed telling lies after cleaning pheasant in SD - aint nothing like it. It's right up...

Basil Hayden bourbon puts out a special bottle each year for South Dakota's pheasant opener. It's good whiskey.

    Let's Bitch (Can't Hunt)

We have hunted with really good dogs and we have hunted with really bad dogs. The last few years we have hunted without and have had just as big a blast as we did with dogs. To each his own. It's hunting and I aint in the office either way.
