Hi George, Thanks for the update on the 20 ga. I'd like to mount/handle the new 20 ga. and serious about the gun. Have an issue with the new 16ga - only 2 3/4 shells, hence a smaller opening and harder for me to load; but I prefer the 16 stock configuration, more distance behind the trigger...

I just looked at their web site - saw none. Lots of Sweet 16's, however.

Exchanging correspondence with Bass Pro regarding the 20 ga. A5: end of march for the 28"...later for the 26".

Do not have the orig. box. Working on the forend and butt stock; debating whether to buy new or go with what is - 23 yr. gun that has some miles on it.

Apparently the Gold Hunter is one of the lowest recoil guns ever made - gas operated and a bit on the heavy side at 8#...

I own a 20 ga Gold Hunter...still in service. Bought in 2002 and use it for sporting clays.

This is timely...was in SD 10 day's ago in very frigid temps. I swore several times at the puny safety, on the Benelli M2 and vowed to replace it asap. However, I'm not certain what would fit and who would install. Need to find a gunsmith as mine moved to OK.

My right shoulder has been surgically altered, to about 40% wide. Therefore I need a plain fabric strap (Gamehide) ,as wide as possible. Any strap affair slides off what's left of my shoulder. I do insert a shoulder pad to keep it in place, which helps.

I believe the "Puppy program" is for dogs at least 6 mo's of age. The trainer I use has pigeons on a long, light- weight string, but with wings cut. No discipline, just fun and birds for two weeks...and the introduce the gun. Basically they are ready to hunt; mine was in SD at that age and...

Guess I would echo Alaska Swamp Collie's remarks - let the dog get enthused and have fun with the live birds. Whether pointers or flushers isn't the process the same...getting them excited about birds.

In your text you refer to "gun conditioning" with a four-month dog. Assume you meant intro to the gun. My suggestion: have a professional deal with this training aspect. The introduction is done in careful steps when the dog is ready. Doesn't sound like this dog is ready! Good Luck!
