Do we need to get away from plastic ?

Checked the Federal web site. They do make paper hulls, expensive. Leafed through some old reloading data. Last mention of paper hulls was 1995.

Do we need to get away from plastic ?

Back in the dark ages.... the old man would get boxes of federal paper cases from The Grand American trap shoot. We loaded those for years with only one problem. During a duck hunting trip we ran into a week of rain. Some of them swelled and didn't want to chamber. But that was one instance in...

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

Amount of oil on the tube was one of the old mans tricks. When I used one for trap shooting, he would wipe some of the oil off. That way I didn't pelt the guy on my right side.

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

When deer hunting in close cover I use my 1956 with the modified barrel. More nimble than the scoped 270.

    Late 1950s Sweet 16

I have two 12s that have never jammed. But I was kinda fanatical about keeping them clean. Never let them go more than five years without a total break down. Now days I use my 7 pound Maxus.

    Soybean price helps habitat

Several hundred doves were using our wheat stubble. Three days before the season every last one disappeared. But the turkeys are finding lots of grasshoppers, and the deer are still feeding there.

Cooking Own Meals at the Motel

Son in law has a Blackstone. Last winter when we visited in Florida, we took pheasant breast with us. I can still see him making pheasant fajitas with palm trees in the background. Back to the original question, yes. My wife always manages to throw something together while I am cleaning birds...

    Future of CRP ?

A few years back when the last of the cows were sold, we looked into crp. We were told the ground needed to be cropped 3 out of 5 years. We had it in grass or alfalfa for 30 years. They told me I had to burn it down and plant row crops for 3 years. I found myself speechless and walked out of the...

Early 1950's Browning Light 12 Gauge Shotgun Potentially for Sale

You mentioned the scratches. When you remove the finish, get in those divots with a tooth brush and really clean out the old stuff. That's part of the reason they show up so clear. Next you need to raise the grain in the scratches. I always used a iron and a damp rag. Place the rag on the...

    Refinished my 720

I had Simmons do 2 M12s for me back in the 80s. Ribs and blue. Always quality work. What struck me on the 720 was the sharpness of the engraving. Sometimes that gets lost on the redo.

    Refinished my 720
