    Let’s talk hunting

Didn't make it out last weekend. It was WAY TOO HOT, even up high, here. Maybe this Saturday. Glad to hear everyone got into birds!

    Outfitters & Guides in Colorado

Also a member at BCW&C. Hunted Broken Spoke but I'm pretty sure they're out of business. Since I'm a Western Slope guy, I won't travel to the front range to hunt preserves. If I'm heading 6+ hours east, I'll chase wild birds and have been known to go to Nebraska and Kansas, too. I have spent...

    Montana

Project Upland and Pheasant's Forever Have been touting Lewistown as the best bird hunting in the US. These publications reach a lot of people. This, along with Montana's licensing, would help explain your crowds. Few years back, one of the big sporting magazines (sports afield or similar)...

    Learning about Field Golden Retrievers

There's no dog I'd rather own/hunt. They're superstars in the field and anywhere you take them and there's no better dog to have around the house. Odd sidenote....my male points and holds that point. Then, he'll flush the bird on command. Love that dog!

    Golden retriever hair/fur product

I've hunted Goldens since the 90s. I just groomed mine for the early season. I thin out and shear the buttocks/tail area as it's prone to gathering sticks/burrs. I trim the hair underneath the entire undercarriage including the rear legs; trim/thin the leg feathers...all four as well as their...

    Vehicle equipment for the boonies

Come Along has saved us quite a few times in the Rockies. I never hit the mountains without one.

    Gun Lubrication

Oddly enough, the only oil I use on my guns interiors anymore is the Mobil 1 0w-40 european formula placed into a pin-point applicator. Nice light oil that won't break down. A quart will last a lifetime. I still spray some Remoil on barrels and on my Wingmaster's action.
