    Montefeltro or Ethos ?

That's the UL so yes to reduce weight. The regular Monte, no.

    Montefeltro or Ethos ?

The new model isn't really anymore expensive than the old model Ultra Light. Especially for what you get. New and improved receiver and bolt, easier to load, better trigger guard, better recoil pad. And the best part of the new Ultra Light is the much slimmer forearm and buttstock.

    Montefeltro or Ethos ?

Never had it happen on the old or new model. Most of the time the click is user error. Failure to close the bolt properly or maybe sit the gun down on the buttstock loosening the bolt. My dad has a 30 year old Montefeltro, and he has never had the click.

    Montefeltro or Ethos ?

I have the new 12 gauge Monte and an older 20 gauge Monte. The 12 feels like a 20, nice and slim. The M2 is my favorite though. Comes with the shim kit so you can get that perfect fit.

    Training My Lab Puppy

I certainly believe in hunting them at a young age, which is why I like to get a puppy Jan.-March. I won't buy one any other time. It makes it perfect to get them into the hunting field before they are a year old. I hunt about 45 days myself each year. My old female is 11 and I am planning...

    Training My Lab Puppy

I prefer to have my dog obedient off lead, collar conditioned, and force fetched before hunting in the field. I also like them steady to shot, which doesn't happen until after OB, CC, and FF. Mostly for the safety of the dog. And like I said, that is all done by 10 months of age which is when...

    What’s the best food?

It leads to weight gain if you feed too much. My female is spayed and 11 years old. You just have to cut back on the amounts if you feed a higher protein and fat food.

    Training My Lab Puppy

You right, they need birds. That's why I start my pups on clipped wing and dead pigeons at 8 weeks of age and they get them weekly up til the point they are ready for formal training at 6-7 months. Here are a few good threads from some fellows that know how to train dogs and when they start...

    Training My Lab Puppy

In my opinion, she will be too young to hunt this fall. But I like my dogs to be through a formal training program before hunting. A puppy is generally reading for training to begin at 6-7 months and it takes 3 months for Obedience, Collar Conditioning, and Force Fetch. I always get a puppy...

    Phez Crow Count Survey

My definition of "Pockets" equals habitat. That is all a pocket is. Where there is habitat there are birds. Problem is that Kansas has had a huge decline in habitat. CRP had large acres expire in the last 15 years. In the last 2 years there has been more enrollment though. Farmers and...

    Montefeltro or Ethos ?

Not true anymore. You can get a high or low rib on both guns. The Monte Ultra Light has a carbon high rib. The regular Ethos has a low rib. Just depends on the model and configuration. The Monte offers new technology.

    What’s the best food?

My female is 11 and 58 lbs. She gets 1.5 cups a day. My male is 65 lbs and gets 2 cups. Great food.

I don't call those things a hunt, it's a "Shoot". If that is your thing, I am sure it is a top-notch place to go.

NEWS FLASH: Drought ends at Ponderosa

1.95 this week. Looks like we may get some more on Saturday. Hope it doesn't scatter the dove. My spot was hot 2 weeks ago.

    Really Late Hatch Birds?

I wonder since it is this late in the year, if it isn't a 3rd attempt. Rain, hail, haying, wheat harvest, etc can wreak a nest.

    Really Late Hatch Birds?

I saw a pheasant brood yesterday that looked to be 3-4 weeks old. There is no "Second" hatch. A hen doesn't raise 2 broods, but if unsuccessful, a hen will keep renesting.
