    Uninsulated Boots??

They are considered non insulated but have lining for waterproofing. They are my winter boot pairs with a super light wicking sock and a knee high, thin, cross country ski sock to keep the calves warm. They are far too warm for hunting before the snow flys for me however so I do have a...

    2023/2024 Pheasant Hunting Videos

I agree with the additional voice editing comments and along those same lines, for me at least, the more DIY it is, the more I feel a part of it. I think Golden Hour's videos are so popular because it allows you to JOIN in on the hunt. It feels like I am there. No music, drone shots, or...

The most Beautiful Bird Hunting Boot ever

I too have a 15 year old pair that still gets heavy use until there is snow on the ground. Mine have payed for themselves twice over easily but they were $400 back then. They made a quality product and stuck by it. The company has been purchased from the long time family owners and no longer...

    2023/2024 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Super enjoyable video. I commented on your YouTube page. Skye was awesome. For what its worth, may none of us ever lose the "rush" of a rooster flushing at our feet and cackling. I look forward to more vids next season with Roxy and Skye.

    First Bird Dog

Congrats. ENJOY! I have my 9th pup coming in July and it is still crazy exciting. I'm gong to squirrel off in another direction in regards to indoor pups with motors, which is often most of them. I believe you can do A LOT right now to help your pup be a welcome house dog. I have an over...

    Losing confidence in dog

I know dogs have "felt" my frustration during training at times (without correction) and have lost confidence because they didn't know what I wanted. They can sense our moods. It's important YOU enjoy the experience as well for the most part as year one is still elementary school for her. I...

    Sealing Tonneau Cover from Dust

I've noticed without a spray in bed liner, my trucks leak dust. Plugged every opening I could with kits, stripping, and caulk.......I think its like mice...do what you can to deter it. I think you have done what you can. This doesn't answer your question but now I have everything in separate...

    Meat Handling on the Road

Cleaned and cooled they last quit a while. I'm unusually home by day 5 or 6. I don't use water on them when I clean them however. I think that's more likely a situation for bacteria. If frozen and unthawed, it gets cooked or smoked, not refroze for me.

First pheasant hunt for my son

I second Remy's advice. 20 gauge pump and no worries about flinching. All my kids were done with it in a year but it was worth building up to the 12 gauge...or make he'll like sub gauge. I know at my conservation club (if you belong to one) you could find someone that has one they would let...

    Boss shotshells?

For the gentleman who was asking about shot size. I shot Boss last year and liked their pattern at 30 yds in my modified choke 12 gauge. I shot 2 3/4 #5s but for me personally, hunting public land roosters with a flusher, I wish I had gone with #4s for the longer late season shots. I'll try...

    Pheasant Breakfast Burritos

Nice. I'm a "light" breakfast eater in the summer but come hunting time at the motel, I like hardier and quick. Five straight days of oatmeal just got "scrambled" up! I like the thought of being able to keep it as "healthy" as you want as my sausage often crumbles without the "good stuff" to...

    Grouse and Woodcock tips

Welcome Hosk13f, I'm from WI and you CAN hunt grouse with a lab and be successful. In fact, I think it has made my labs hunt even closer because of early season cover as we prepare for the pheasant season. I'm sure you already did, but hop on line and check out the Grouse Society projects in...

    A thought on shooting technique

A5 Sweet 16, OUOUOU I love the flusher advice in you. It's the little things that make up the big. Keep that body and eyes ahead of your dog...especially when you CAN'T see them but hear them...like in the cattails, willows or tall big blue stem and you are on the edge. I sometimes like to try...

    A thought on shooting technique

I enjoy and benefit from reading through these posts. Thanks guys. Probably already said, (what's a short term memory?) but I began to shoot so much better when I narrowed it down to 2 shots. Crossing or quartering. Quartering I shoot at the leading wing tip. Crossing, I either, match the...

    Good News For All Hunters

I like it! No more inflation guys! Just messing, no political talk here. I am from the camp of "take what you can get" and work for more to support the cause. I appreciate public land as it is the only land that I hunt. I appreciate the efforts to increase opportunities for anything out in...

Pup will be ready for next years pheasant season

Willa looks great!! Enjoy. Just so there is no misunderstanding, the $500 is a deposit. Otherwise I'd buy two!!

    2022/2023 PHEASANT Hunting Videos

The tense anticipation while watching the dog work and being "tuned in" to the environment....where's he gonna go?. Its like the shot clock winding down. I do get something extra from hearing that cackle when I'm lucky enough to get a wild bird to sound off. Even first light sitting in the...

    Atlas AT 50 Wobble trap

My son bought me a used AT50 C from them 7 years ago and I just replaced the spring. The C stands for Commercial and has a little better motor. It has been flawless as well. My wife picks up my "very few" ;) misses and I reuse those clays without breaking. I also had the Whirrly Bird. Atlas...

    Long Distance Traveling for Birds

A few thoughts/issues I have found. I think it might depend on the state and area that make it logistical. I have a 18' toy hauler and it is great for National Forest grouse hunting as you can camp anywhere in N.F.. If in county or state forests you need to find designated camping spots and...

    Boot Cleaner & Leather Conditioner

It also depends on the type of leather. I usually go with the boot manufacturer's recommendation. Russel Moccasin says Oenaufs and I have used for countless years and would recommend. Red Wing recommends Mink Oil, (theirs of course) and also good results but if I had to choose one, Obenaufs...
