    dog vest

I picked up a medium this fall for my dogs. I have a male pointer about 55lbs and a female gsp about 45lbs. The medium seems big on the gsp. I think the small would fit your britt pretty well. They have a size chart on the site to measure. Hope this helps if Dakotazeb doesn't answer back.

I haven't had the chance to pattern it yet. I did kill the first two woodcock I shot at. Then missed the next 10... Then I switched back to my old gun. I think I need to pattern it and shoot a round of clays with it. Seems like I was shooting under all the birds I missed.

    Boots

I use the Merrell Moab 3 mid waterproof boots if hunting in the mountains or relatively dry places. I have no experience with the crispis or Kenns. But have hiked and hunted all over the southern Appalachians and Colorado in them. No problems and a little cheaper.

    Ruffland Kennel Pad

I have the mud river pads in a kennel and my both sides of my dog box they make different sizes. They seem to hold up and are not to expensive. Just have to measure your crate for the size...

Picked up my first 16 gauge and sxs

16 would be a good choice if you're after pheasant. I have no experience with a 28 but would think the 16 would be better especially on windy days and wild flushing birds. I do like the double trigger on the SxS so far took it dove hunting and it was nice that I could choose which barrel to...

I think the Mossberg SA 20 is imported by Mossberg, not actually made by them.

4, 5, or 6 shot for you early season pheasant hunters? And what choke are you shooting?

Semi auto I usually just run 5's. Double barrel with different chokes 7.5 or 6s first barrel shot 5 in the second barrel. Picked up some Winchester AA diamond grade 7.5 copper plated shells at 1250 fps. I think that will be my go to first shot this year.

    First sharptail hunt results

Good advice. I think my Pointer will do ok, my female short hair has it figured out. But with a young dog that doesn't see many wild birds you never know.

    First sharptail hunt results

Nice picture good looking dog. Sounds like they figured it out pretty fast. The only dog wild bird my has pointed is woodcock and one grouse which he may have bumped last year. We're head to Michigan in October, and then a pheasant trip in November hope he catches on as fast as yours did.

    First sharptail hunt results

Nice! Good looking pics I'm sure you would have liked to kill some more birds but still looks like a great trip. How did the dogs handle a new type of bird?

    GSP getting cut up

I have a female short hair that runs like that. If the cover is thick, or tall grass I put a vest on her. If the temps allow. My Pointer can run through the same cover and not have a scratch. The pointer has got into barb wire the last two years though...
