Each time I go to hunting at Neal Smith I'm struck with one of two things. Where are all the birds? Or man these birds are smart. Today was both. Long walk through lots of good cover, only bird I saw was a hen my lab tracked around in a 1/4 mile circle. What have y'all experienced out there?

I am wondering about following my dogs tomorrow in a few public areas tomorrow. But with the Deer Gun season opener I'm wondering how wise that would be. Any of you Iowa pheasant phanatics going out tomorrow?
