Do upland birds hear the "Silent dog Whistle" ?

Last Jan in Ks. the dust was so bad from the crushed lime stone gravel roads I believe it hurt our dogs smelling birds.After 5 days the white powder was everywhere,eyes, ears, noses.Dog box on pickup truck.Would a camper shell be better? any other ideas?

we will becoming up from texas on hw 83 Liberal Ks.would like to hunt mostly quail ? can anyone make suggestions on towns,food and bird dog friendly motels?we should arrive dec10th,and want to hunt the walk in ground and work our way east and north for about a week.any help will be appreciated.
