    Porcupine Question

Thanks for the heads up on the skunks , we're coming from Va. in January. Long way to travel with a "skunked" dog ! I'll definitely pack the Hydrogen peroxide. / baking soda ( works well in my experience ). Is there anything that helps with the wife after we get home ( assuming the skunk happens ) 😅

I hunt on a family property just outside of Phoenix VA. ( primarily deer ) always holds a few coveys but never pull the trigger , just not enough of them. Sure is nice to put them up though !

I've been duck hunting on the Bay ( Reedville area ) for quite a few yrs. Just dosen't seem to be the flyway it once was. Changing focus to the Brittany, quail and pheasants. Maybe woodcock and grouse in the N.E. next yr.

I figured ( sarcasm ) given the state of this Country I had to ask though ! We plan to be in 2 trucks so we can scout/ hunt more ground to locate birds. Being from Va. ( no wild birds ) we aren't nessasarily looking for limits just enough to keep the dogs in the game.

We are like the proverbial " mailman " , out there whatever the weather. Actually hoping for seasonable temperatures, last 2 trips to Stutgart in Jan have seen highs in the 60's , AWFULL !

We checked into those cabins but settled on a house in Lucas. The dogs are spoiled , they want their own bedroom and a full kitchen. We plan to work them hard so they'll earn it !😁

    Thinking at changing breeds

I've been hunting / living with Brittany's for almost 20 yrs . Although as you know they are "energetic" they make great house dogs assuming they are properly worked. Hard to beat in the field too.

We are really looking forward to the walk in areas , Va. has no such program. We'll make the best of it either way . A day following a birddog followed by a good meal and a Bourbon or two is hard to beat !

Thanks ! We plan to be mobile, game plan is to be in 2 trucks so we can cover more ground ( both scouting and hunting ) . As I said earlier our option in Va. are so poor ( preserve only ) really any birds @ all will be considered successful.

I know of a couple of groups of guys who have been going for sometime with generally good to really good results. That said all we can do is scout and put in miles behind the dogs ! FYI hear in VA. quail and grouse are essentially "ghost" birds ... so just about any success is appreciated.
