    Heading to Kansas

Last yr we were driving down a road witch in a matter of feet change to grease and abruptly ended in a corn field. 5:00 in the evening , stratled the ditch and the edge of the "road" backing up to get out. Be very aware.

    Heading to Kansas

We hunted 5 days with 4 dogs. We found pheasants, quail and chickens, killed some of all. Certainly not limits though. We traveled from SW Va. Absolutely worth the effort. We will be back this January.

    Heading to Kansas

We made our first trip to KS last January. Roads can be a challenge, pay attention, they aren't necessarily what the map service says or even there for that matter. Best approach is to go for it. Birds are skittish as hell but they are huntable. Cell service overall was pretty good (north...

First KS Upland Hunt Jan '22, Hopefully

4 of us went in January of '21, hunted all WIHA. As has been said late season birds are tough but boot leather and persistence works. We hunted 5 days , killed a few pheasants , quail and chickens. Had a great time and will be back January '22. What outfitter are you using?

We are considering an upland hunt in early Jan of '22. Thinking of hunting both north central KS and south central NE. We hunted all around Lucas KS last Jan., we did find birds but very spotty. Hopefully # will be up next yr. Any thoughts ?

Kansas Trespassing Fee for Private Land

Seems to be a common theme to focus on deer. Ks. is not unique in that but I would have thought the bird leases would be prominent. I'm grateful for the WIHA access and I'll be back in Jan of '22, going to extend the trip a day or two so we can rest the dogs more. We hunted 5 straight days this...

Kansas Trespassing Fee for Private Land

No idea, apparently for some land owners the WIHA under values the asset. I would be curious as to the cost to lease decent bird ground. Honestly have no idea ...

Kansas Trespassing Fee for Private Land

General question from an "Evil Non-resident". Is there an average per acre amount that the state pays ? How do they arrive @ a "fair market value" ? Seems to me the value of a private lease has to be considered in the equation. I certainly can't fault a land owner for maximizing his asset...

    KDWPT Wildlife Commission

My wife has told me the same thing about the current political situation we're in (curb it) anyway I had the pleasure of hunting KS this past Jan., as I've said in other posts we didn't find a tremendous # of birds but what a pleasure to hunt the WIHA areas. We have nothing like this in VA. so...

    KDWPT Wildlife Commission

" dirty rotten capitalist" really ? Capitalism is the reason a private citizen owns property and can decide to lease or not to whomever they so choose.

    Interesting Quail Study

Wish Va. still had her ! We desperately need to focus on our quail / grouse and even woodcock population (or lack of ) way too much attention and $ spent on deer !
