Back in the early 90's wild turkeys were just showing up in east central IL. We had brittany at the time. He went on point in a crp field next to a hedgerow. When I walked up to the dog, 3 wild turkeys took off running. First wild turkeys I saw in Iroquois county.

I have always done better with CRP in wide open areas. In my opinion, timber attracts more predators of all kinds, coyotes, raptors, raccoons, and skunks.

I always carry a leatherman multi tool in my vest. Can't tell you how many uses I've found for that over the years.
