    Lab guys sorry but....

There's a lot of thrills I can think of with pointing dogs. One of my best memories, my two dogs had done a loop ahead of me and came back directly towards me (wind at my back). And older dog pointed with my younger (first season) honoring. We had pinned a hen and roaster directly between us...

    Lab guys sorry but....

I could say 500 or I could say 1 and it wouldn't matter to you would it? What I can tell you, I get about 2x the birds I did when I hunted with my dads labs. And this is when everyone is saying pheasant populations have been at it's lowest. So I think I'm doing something well.

    Lab guys sorry but....

When I first got a pointer after growing up on labs, that was by far the hardest thing do in the transition. Letting them past 20 yards felt like a sin because it normally means a ruined hunt with a flusher. I was calling my dog back every cast and it was horrible. Eventually got better about...

    Lab guys sorry but....

It's a really funny juxtaposition in this thread. Pointers make a hunt too easy but labs get more birds. How does that work? If a hunt is too easy, it means you got more birds. But I think it's because pointers certainly can make a hunt very easy. Great trained dogs on not skiddish birds means...

    Lab guys sorry but....

But they do know where the dog is. Says right on the gps.

    Arizona Quail Hunt 23-24 Season

I'm not sure who said the Gambels were down this year, it was an amazing year for them. I'm in Colorado and we had an actual hunt-able population which is not very common.

    Party Hunting

If you hit the group limit, unless you just luckily each shot exactly the same amount of birds, you are party hunting. Morally I think your approach is fine. Everyone seems happy to share that way. If you are in an area where party hunting is illegal, you could still get in trouble for having...

    Lab guys sorry but....

So is it possible to breed a British lab while in America? Or do they become American?

    Lab guys sorry but....

But kielbasa is polish for sausage. A Kielbasa is a polish sausage. Last comparison. American vs British lab. Is there a difference?

    Lab guys sorry but....

It's technically just a different language. If someone says they had kielbasa for dinner, do you think they should have said sausage instead? There is a difference between DD and Wirehairs (all DDs are wirehairs but not all wirehairs are DD). And it matters to some.

How else are we suppose to pass the off season? Fishing like rubes?

    Lab guys sorry but....

It's complicated ha. I think it's a bit like people who specify they have a yellow vs chocolate vs black lab.

The most Beautiful Bird Hunting Boot ever

How did you take that plunge? I wear through boots very often, but dropping $500+ on a pair feels so risky. The bison leather is only $40 more, not as bad I would have thought.

    Lab guys sorry but....

I think this is true for more people than who like to admit it. A family dog that "can" hunt is much better than an amazing hunter who sucks in the house. But breeds have very wide ranges and many overlap with other breeds on those qualities. It's why selecting a breeder that matches your style...

    Lab guys sorry but....

Pretty sure the pittbull breeds bring home the bacon. I've never seen a lab out hog hunting.

It's German, not Japanese obviously. And mine do my taxes on top of the juggling on two feet.

    Lab guys sorry but....

Seems like the dogs that allow for their owners to be fat, unathletic, bad shots and still get birds, might just be the better dog.

    Lab puppy

The criteria is only for training (or puppy introduction) where you specifically are making the dog do work in the water. If the dogs want to jump in and play, that is completely fine. Even doing a few bumper throws can be fine, but just don't push the training/introduction aspect.

    Lab guys sorry but....

Are you saying you wistle sit them from 200 yards away when they get birdied? If so that's impressive. For me, I don't hold strictly to the dogs having to be rock solid points and I find it's bad if they aren't willing to move for running birds since it's a pain encouraging them to move up. For...

    Favorite steel

I do like kent steel a lot. Not that there isn't a good amount of steel now a days, but they seem priced right for the quality. Their bismuth seems way overpriced, but I've only shot a few and didn't pattern them. I really want to like boss and I know many do, but my guns did not pattern well...
