    Browning 20ga A5

Oh, so when you say “most” hunters, you’re not talking pheasant hunters specifically. Got ya.

    Browning 20ga A5

I never take the plugs out of my guns. Everywhere I hunt, the limit is three pheasants. No need to keep blasting.

    Browning 20ga A5

I load three. Keep three extra in my pocket, cause I miss sometimes.

    Browning 20ga A5

It’s pretty simple really. I said to take 3” mags out of the equation and you missed that completely. I’m not even going to try to help you understand, when we’re talking patterns and you confuse that with penetration. 🤦‍♂️

    Browning 20ga A5

Would it make sense to compare 6 shot in a 20 to 5 shot in a 16? To keep things equal you’d have to keep the number of shot the same. If 1 oz of shot is optimum in a 16 (for the sake of comparison) the you’d want the optimum load in a 20, which would obviously be lighter. To fill out the...

    Browning 20ga A5

Is that universally the case? Does payload, choke, velocity or range have any bearing on results? I’m not trolling. I don’t use either 16 or 20, I’m just interested.

    Browning 20ga A5

I guess I’m not to the point where a pound and a half makes a lot of difference. Most of my walks are less than 2 hours, though, so I’m not tired before I finish and move on to the next spot. Whatever I shoot best is what I carry.

I didn’t know Browning offered dimensional lumber. Folks with A5s seem to like them.

I’m thinking better ammo selection and availability.

    Golden Retriever question

I typically hunt alone, so I see a golden every time I go out! I’m on my second golden and even though mine haven’t been from breeders that create hunting dogs, they have had great instincts and a crazy desire to please. Unless I drop dead first, my next hunting buddy will be a golden too.

    All My Shotguns

Not so much a collection; I think it’s called retail therapy.

    All My Shotguns

I admire your restraint. I’ve had more shotguns than I care to count and still own a number of them. Maybe not quite 20 currently.

    Single shot guns?

No need to get snippy or misrepresent my view. Some people have no other option, that’s fair, but there are better options for most people.

    Single shot guns?

I think the suggestion to shoot better is a flip answer. Shooting better ignores the many variables that occur when a bird flushes. I doubt anyone is 100% on pheasants with their first shot.

    Single shot guns?

I prefer to have more than one shot available for those wounded birds that otherwise might be lost. Doesn’t seem sporting to risk turning a bird into coyote food when guns are available that have another shell ready to go. Nothing sporting about leaving cripples.
