CRP May Be Hayed or Grazed

Where in the WIHA regs does it say you won’t encounter a cow on a property?

    New upland shotgun?

I have both these guns, as does my brother in law. Bought the 391s back in 2003 for upland, added the 300s in the last few years for waterfowl. Zero complaints from either of us. Know of 10 other 391s bought in our family/friends group after they shot ours. I have heard of no complaints. I’ve...

First time to SD - lots of questions...

I've hunted SD one time, last year, the same week you are talking about, so thats my total frame of reference. We hunted 30 miles south of where you will be staying. 1. What's the difference (if any) between a Prairie chicken, Prairie Grouse and a Greater Prairie Grouse/chicken. All the...

Anyone finding any 16 ga Shells

My speculation is they're shipping everything as fast as it can be produced and they don't care who's hands it lands in, as long as their profit margin is realized and the money comes back to them.

New CZ-USA & Project Upland guns

Yeah, that bottom line in my reply is a hyperlink, but for some reason this board doesn't highlight or change the font to denote that. Nice looking shotgun. Glad CZ took the time to ask, then follow through with the manufacture.

New CZ-USA & Project Upland guns

Wonder what happened with this, that linked article was from a year ago and said the 'crowd sourced' winners would be available for purchase in 2021. Will have to do some digging to see what came up....

    2021 youth Gobbler action

This is his 3rd with it. TSS weighs like 19g/cc where lead weighs 12, so over 50% heavier than lead. So a #9 TSS weighs like the equivalent of a lead #5 (not digging into the data tables to see the exacts here, just bsllparking). Small shot size gets the pattern density up. Heavier than lead...

    2021 youth Gobbler action

My 10 year old boy has now had 3 years in a row of opening day success. This one was 10" beard, 1 5/16" spurs, used his hand me down single shot .410 loaded with BossTom TSS #9s. He was doing a bit of stunt shooting this year, long range at 18 yards. Last year it was at about 6 yards...

What is the best pair of boots you ever owned for hunting pheasants?

Off the top of my head, I'll say no to any insoles, they're pretty tight. If I remember, I'll slip a pair in just to try. I bought a thin pair of insoles for some western boots that I haven't used yet that will work for a test. They look good as new. I treat all my boots heavily with...

What is the best pair of boots you ever owned for hunting pheasants?

What options are you adding to get them to $806? $595 is the base pricing. I haven't had any arch issues, but my arches are pretty flat to begin with, the boots are definitely accommodating to flat arches. I found a pic of mine from when they were a week old. Still upsetting to me that they...

    Best hunting pup for pheasants

Oh man, I made a comment like that once on a 'bird dog' page on facebook, asking what world people were living in to be calling a lab a bird dog. You'd have thought I had said the Virgin Mary was a hooker...

    Not my day.

When I was a kid we knocked a few quail down on a covey rise. Our shorthair cross that was the best dog for downed birds I've ever been around starts digging in a packrats nest. Dads dragging him back by his collar, yelling at him for chasing pack rats. Dog runs back to it, starts digging...

What is the best pair of boots you ever owned for hunting pheasants?

I've only got 2 seasons on my Russells, I haven't hunted any rainy weather. Just the morning dew/frost, occasional finding of a puddle in a waterway, and some light standing water in the cattails of South Dakota that I tried to get out of in a hurry. My feet stayed dry.

    Which upland semi-auto for pheasant?

I'm partial to my Beretta 391, you'd have to hit the used market, or the earlier 390, and versions earlier than it always got good reviews. I have a synthetic stocked Beretta 300 that is my duck gun, no issues with it, but it is nearly a pound heavier than my 391. Or up the budget a bit and...

    Keys

My 'commuter' car is a 2001 Civic with 300K miles, peeling clearcoat, scratches, dents, wanky bumper, etc. Before covid, I flew every week, out on Monday, back on Friday. I'd park the car at the local airport, key still in ignition. This airport lot is free parking, no fence, no guards, no...

Garmin 550 Plus and Mini collar

Garmin Vivoactive integrates with the collar transmitters. This link at target shows it as $150, but a month or so ago I was googling and found them for $99 at walmart. https://www.target.com/p/garmin-vivoactive-3-smartwatch-black/-/A-52790700#lnk=sametab

Garmin 550 Plus and Mini collar

I think I'm going to buy a 200i before next season. Another forum was talking about the watches, somebody linked a watch not targeted to the 'hunting' crowd that was substantially cheaper, that worked just as well with the Garmin devices. Like $120 instead of several hundred dollars.
