Switching dog food because of price and availability?!

I sent an email to American Natural Premium (WI) regarding the price increase and received a phone call from their VP. We spoke for about 20 mins, he explained that prices on chicken, eggs, and packaging seem to be increasing on a monthly and/ or even weekly basis. His east coast shipping costs...

    Progressive Hunting Season Stats

Did you ever think about reaching out to potential youth hunters and/ or military personnel? You would still be getting out hunting and working your dogs but might have a renewed inspiration by mentoring others. I would think a local hunter safety instructor could introduce you to some...

    Home made video recommendations

I watched one episode of each, enjoyed them both. Have a bias towards CJR as I’m also a GSP guy, however a few f-bombs and such on the CJR video so couldn’t watch with my young ones.

    Progressive Hunting Season Stats

Thanks, we could create an excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is fun for tracking year to year stats but the journal is good for tracking memories.

    Progressive Hunting Season Stats

@Miforester - Very good way of recording memories. I too, started keeping a log a few years ago a year or two after my oldest son started hunting with me. We have yet to keep the spreadsheet but I keep abbreviated notes of who we hunted with, location, and birds harvested. Sometimes misses and...

The OPs screen name is birdhunter6, I’m sure he has an idea what’s in store for him. I think you may be preaching on the wrong forum.

    Relocation to south dakota

I’d suggest add an apartment above the garage and 3 more kennels…then let us know when it’s available. ;)

    Looking for SD Pheasants~Hunt Swap?

A jake or a hen is more suitable for plucking. A tom I would just pluck the breast.

    Looking for SD Pheasants~Hunt Swap?

Not at all, but the other guy also was comparing them to a “thanksgiving bird”. ;) I like the thighs and leg meat in a soup or slow cooked in a pulled bbq recipe. The meat will fall off the tendons. The breasts simply cut into 6-8oz size pcs olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper on the grill...

    Looking for SD Pheasants~Hunt Swap?

I’ve never had one I didn’t like, depends how you cook them. Brine and/ or marinate helps. You have to cook the parts (breasts/ thighs/ legs) separately, this isn’t a farm raised bird. Many good tips from wild game chefs out there.

Anyone know a good hunting dog training book?

He may need a new book on “How to teach an old dog new tricks.” Original post was 2016. :D

    Full gun cleaning

Boresnake through the barrel 2-3x and an exterior wipe down after shooting. I waterfowl hunt also so the guns get disassembled and oiled as needed (typically 3-5x a year). Benellis / Franchis.

    Recipes for Roosters

Good recommendation. I made the vegetables, pheasant, stock, and rice separately, then mixed towards the end.

    Recipes for Roosters

Try a salt water brine and/ or marinade before cooking. Helps a lot. Don’t overcook.
