Why did you go with the breed that you did and have you been satisfied?

That is what Stoney says, whether it is original to him I don't know. Dude seems to be a great guy. I have had some great private messages with him regarding e-collars and bird dog training. He is not a fan of e-collars only because they are so often misused. When asked about the small # of...

    Dogs Change, I Guess

I have found and others have confirmed 5 to 6 year old females spayed or never having had pups seem to have a identity crisis about the dominant role. It is like there biological clock is pushing them.

Is a hay field good for pheasants?

Unfortunately it is getting worse because today's equipment allows haying at a speed that doesn't give time to get clear. Some hay at 15 to 20 mph.

    Passing through SD…Pheasants Galore

I would think the whole state is in good shape at the present time. Keep in mind some may hay it again and call it management which has to be done on a periodic basis.

    Food plot failure

My buddies replanted 8 acres of corn that was 2 " before the birds and deer wiped it out. They replanted with corn that has a powder treatment that discourages the birds from consuming it.

    Another positive to navhda.

Great contacts can be made regarding almost anything. Need to know where to get snake avoidance training? Anti-venom ? Emergency vets near your destinations? Hotels that allow dogs but aren't for the dogs? Birds for training. Equipment for training. Almost all groups also keep a eye on...

    Rattle Snake Vaccine

Most vets don't have it on hand but will order it for you. Shelf life is not long so you understand why areas without high snake populations don't have it. I notify my vet my intentions and they bring it in. IIRC My friend uses a vet in Tyler.

    Higgins Releaser

I don't know what a Higgins releaser is but I tethered a bird to plastic bottle and put the bottle in the releaser. About 18" of string so the bird could flap around prior to being released.

    Prepping for a controlled burn.

Our same group burned off 3 pieces of ground again today. On the largest burn 110+- acres we had a local small town fd out with 2 trucks. Trouble is the small truck with 400 gallons of water weighs over 15000ibs. That limits there usefulness. Have 2 more pieces a landowner is begging us to do...

    CZ shotgun rebates

I took advantage of the rebates buying 4 of the qualifying dbls for our pf banquet. Rebate was a smooth process. As for the CZ quality I wasn't a fan originally but after talking with guys that sell them I changed my mind. Sellers said very few problems and excellent support by CZ. They are...

    Prepping for a controlled burn.

The best preparation makes for the best burn. If you are wanting to do a spring burn fall mowing and baling gives a great headstart. If not done in the fall mowing and raking is a good idea. Lots of water and people who know what is expected of them is a absolute. We burned 4 pieces yesterday...
