Sporting clays, how to approach targets so they carryover to the pheasant fields.

Thanks Chessie. Low guns definitely a goal. Maybe I’m not going about it right but I think I’m going to shoot 5 more rounds trying to get my eyes trained to see the front edge of the bird. The next 5 rounds tightening up a choke and more focus. And the last 5 rounds low gun.

Sporting clays, how to approach targets so they carryover to the pheasant fields.

I’ve been shooting a little this spring and summer. This weekend I went ahead and joined a club and bought 1200 clay birds. I’ve been shooting 75 birds a trip. Less the round on Saturday I have 15 rounds to shoot remaining this summer. I’m competitive and even just shooting against myself I’d...

    Pump gun

If your intent on hurting Kansas I’d hunt the most comfortable gun you can shoot with. Any gun is going to get heavy when shots are a half a day apart. If you’re worried about fouling up your beretta with debris I wouldn’t worry about it.

    Worried about my Lucy.

I’d go to the vet and get X-ray and make sure there’s not an infection in the spine. This happened to a past dog of mine and instead of sending labs to kstate and waiting on results the vet got aggressive and treated her for both bacterial and fungal infection. No doubt saved her life. Look at...

    New dog skunk kit

I thought I was pretty much over dogs being skunked , use to have one that would get skunked every year. I found that with him if you ran him or even got him wet and ran him some more you’d get rid of most of the smell. They say you’re not supposed to get them wet but he was an oily coated dog...

    L.C. Smith Feild

lol Bob. You missed the deal of the century a while back. I found some Fiocchi bismuth 10 packs for 12 something a box in 2s or 6s . 13 dollar flat rate shipping so I had to buy some other shells I didn’t really need with to make it worth it😆 Oh well it’s an election year I bought 6 boxes of...

I didn’t notice earlier but the Roger’s Kent’s are 3 inch shells too. I bought some 2 3/4 inch Kent’s a while back that I cut one open and they weighed closer to an ounce and 1/8 . Presleys outdoors last I looked they still had some. If lc says go with boss stingers that what I would do.

You can get bismuth for under 40.00 a box case price. Rogers has kents right now for under that. They've also got winchesters 1 3/8 loads at 450.00 That are real thumpers I guess. 3 inch shells, probably not the best for the lc. They have a rewards program that if you signed up youd get 50...

    Steoger 3020 upland

I have a walnut franchi that I despised but couldn’t figure out why. I wanted to love it. If you asked me I thought it weighed about 7 lbs. I got to playing with it a couple of weeks ago and put it on a scale and it weighed 6-5. It was terribly weight forward. I added about 5 ounces to the rear...

How often do you hunt pheasants?

I’m somewhere around 20 days give or take. I put down 16-20 because that’s probably more accurate the last 5 years. This last year it may have been 22 because I hunted 3 weekends out of state. Normally I’m just one day a weekend

    Uninsulated Boots??

It must be an old person thing. One of the girls who works for my wife laughed at me and said I looked like her dad.😆

    Uninsulated Boots??

I wear insulated boots in the summer and as often uninsulated in the winter. It doesn’t really seem to matter my feet don’t sweat much. But yesterday I wore a pair of socks and keen sandals all day and went home with trench foot. Go figure

    Water in the field...

I use to bring a got cooler. In the winter you would have to carry a hammer to spin the lid off when the threads froze up. A lot of my Nalgenes came from thrift stores for 2 or 3 bucks. Some are collectibles like the one that started at a bible camp in Scott.😆

    STORING SHOT SHELLS

Maybe an old refrigerator or chest freezer. I’ve stored buffalo grass seed in coolers to hold it over for until the next season seemed to germinate fine. https://forums.sassnet.com/index.php?/topic/303584-wondering-about-storing-ammunition-in-an-old-unused-freezer/
