    Money for the birds!!

I am a bit more into it, one of a few things I really enjoy doing. It beats the heck out of gardening and much longer time to do it than my annual prairie dawg shoot. Yah, I am passionate about those birds.

    Money for the birds!!

In my book that is not supporting, get money into the groups that get work done. If it is something you are passionate about put some money where your mouth is. The few dollars from a license and habitat stamp are required to hunt, to me that just isn't enough to keep this a viable activity...

Here's my trips I've planned for fall.

    Sounds like good plans!

    Money for the birds!!

So now we have PF as "insignificant"...interesting. Read up on them for a couple minutes and report back on just how insignificant they really are and how they are not thinking "outside the box" their efforts. So discount everything they have done for the past 40 years, then yah, they...

"Thank you" for access to land?

I have given gift cards to Bomgaars and memberships to PF. I do like the Pizza Ranch idea. We have a local buffet that many of the local landowners seem to enjoy, that would be another good option. I know the landowners already, I don't think alcohol would be a good idea.

    Money for the birds!!

Yah, they should vet the photographers they buy photos from a little better. Maybe hire a person to do that to make a few happy and add to their administrative costs so others could complain of that expense.

    Money for the birds!!

If this is the golden ticket to fund raising that you believe it to be, promote it far and wide. PF will be coming to you when they need partners to expand hunting areas with land acquistions and then you can tell them to f off and you can make those land acquisitions with just your own...

    Money for the birds!!

GH, I still don't really understand what you want from PF or what you want them to do, that is upsetting you. Is it that you want them to market products that a percentage of the sales are donated to pheasant programs? If so, isn't that kind of happening already with some PF branding on some...

A gift for your hunting buddies

My gift was a joke to the guy that couldn't figure his way out of a phone booth. I just assumed that would be read into it. Not a gift giver....I usually supply the the cover and the birds.

A gift for your hunting buddies

I gave a member of our deer hunting group a $2 compass as a gift after one season. He kept getting lost/turned-around.

We got our trip booked, and back in SD this year.

I also enjoy an outing or 2 with friends, laughing and kidding around. It is amazing that we shoot birds with the commotion being made, but it happens. A couple hours later we are back to the trucks with our limits, recapping all the good shots , great misses and the dog work. Good stuff...

    Nesting/Brood Rearing Report

I have seen worse but that is going to hurt numbers for sure. Hope it wasn't too big of an area.

It seems like it was just last year you posted about that hunt...time flies! Good luck!

history of the MN buffer strip legislation/bill/law

An amazing number of farmers/landowners are terrible land stewards. No thought or cares for the future, just trying to grow one more bushel.

Pheasant Fact Friday - PF FB Repost

You have to have a lot of respect for the hens, they give it all to raise those chicks!

history of the MN buffer strip legislation/bill/law

If they can't get something done as simple filter strips on the tributaries that feed the water system that Des Moines uses for their water, it isn't happening statewide. Guessing the lawsuits didn't help....or, are there bunches of voluntary filter strip enrollments in those areas after that...

history of the MN buffer strip legislation/bill/law

Just get Iowa on that program and we will be a bird paradise. I am afraid that is much easier said than done.

history of the MN buffer strip legislation/bill/law

There is a good reason to enroll in that program....get paid for doing it, before it is a mandatory thing. Everyone likes clean water , but farmers don't like taking those highly productive acres out of production...but that is where it makes a difference.

    Pollinator Mix Going In

Looks awesome! Fun to see the new chicks/ I have stayed away from ours, I need to take a walk and see what I can find. It should have been/is pretty good conditions for them this year.
