    Taxidermy

I had a local guy, Mark Baker from Lawton do the work. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I had envisioned just 3, but the last bird was just too good not to add him. I picked the mounts and Mark placed them.

    Taxidermy

OK, my phez mount was delivered today, a bit busy, but 4 stud roosters. It took me 4 years to find birds for this, I been averaging 60 per season, it isn't as easy as you might think to find the ones you want. I always want bigger birds with long spurs that aren't shot-up or roughed-up by the...

I sure wish we would have had access to the fabric roller with ours. I believe these fellas run the fabric OVER THE TREES after planting them and the go back and cut a slit and pull the tree through. With that fabric holding back the vegetation for a few years, that switchgrass might not be a...

    Uninsulated Boots??

I do get cold feet easily and I don't hunt anything in the summer months, so I have no use for uninsulated hunting boots. Even in early season I do not notice my feet being hot in 400 gram boots. In the summer I wear a shorter "hiking" looking uninsulated shoe/boot. I don't wear too much...

    Prepping for a controlled burn.

We get the local FD out with a couple rigs when we burn. A couple tillage passes to turn the edges black first.

Hope the rain finds your project, I had just over 1.5" this morning from the night. The radar shows more rain around the region than I have seen for a long time...maybe we will work out of this drought pattern we have been in for 3 years. I transplanted a few ditch cedars, dogwoods and plums...

    Shelter Belt

That is one serious project that you will take pride in for the rest of your life! Great to see some "going-in" with all you see "going-out" recently. Super nice habitat coming your way soon!

    SD Public Pheasant Hunting Trip

My tip would be to keep hunting that private ground near Pierre. Why not?

Pheasant Fact Friday - PF FB Repost

That is possible, I just never thought that, as it is such a fine powder. I just assumed they found enough in our road gravel. A good idea, I might explore that.

If I could find crushed limestone near me, I would buy a 1000 pounds to supplement the hens, just to make it easier for them.

    HOE-LEE-COW!

Over the next up coming weeks, I will try to get my young granddaughters out to hear this. I just makes me happy to hear them in their crowing contests. Hope the kids enjoy it half as much as me!

I got a letter in the mail from the Governor!

So that is way some folks keep record of those details, well done. Just tell them that you didn't see or harvest a bird and hunted everyday of the season. We need the help on the habitat here.

    New from Missouri

Welcome from your neighbor to the north. You might not have ton of pheasants, but you have to have more quail than Iowa.

    Crazy weather

Gim, was thinking of you when I hear about the large potential snowfall MN was expecting. We have our local PF banquet Saturday, so hoping it stays north of us.
