    Nice hunt Saturday

Great photo's...and a successful hunt! Question: "In the thick stuff - can't keep track of Ace"; this seems to be an ongoing issue with me, not sure how to solve it as my golden will wander/chase and be gone for 15-20 minutes. I almost dread getting into the c.tails or large weed-over-my -head...

    Bells

Have used a cowbell for years and it helps me keep track of a dog that likes to hunt by himself...kind of worthless in snow as it clogs the striker. Previous remarks - "they know you're there"; can't say it makes a difference as to stealth. Difficult to put a sneak on a rooster! I like the...

    Weather!!!!

Our weather today was a duplicate to what we experienced, during a hunt in late October - wind and rain/mist. As long as we hunted into the wind the birds held; very few left at the end of a field. We were early in the season which helped ; most of the birds were first-year. By now, after...

    BURRS !!

I use a small electric razor, show sheen spray and scissors. Some of the weeds are impossible - those that stick to the skin. Yes, trimming the belly hair is a good idea.

Grass Awn's - DEADLY for your dog

I reported on the awn in my Golden's ear and subsequent surgery, last year. Early this week, hunting west river, I found one in his good ear, the other was sewn shut during the surgery. Bottom line: check your dog's ears at the end of the day, you'll be amazed at the debris that collects. P.S...

Grass Awn's - DEADLY for your dog

Not sure what is meant be "snowflake stuff" - simply review the problem two of us had with our dog(s). My first encounter was two years ago; thought it was cancer due to the discharge, turned out to be an infection caused by an awn. Snowflake stuff - $4000 for the ear surgery!

    Training Differences?

Question: Are female dogs easier to train or males? I've only had (5) males and may opt for female next time around. Please feel free to comment about your experiences.

    Scent control when planting birds

Have not heard about the product - probably won't hurt... Recall training my Golden on planted birds, placed near a flag...he soon caught on. With future placements he looked for the flags. Smart dog!

    A5 sweet 16..... the A5

Interesting article...I never knew the magazine tube carried so much importance - I seldom do any lube to the tube. My 1941 A5 12 ga is still going strong, but I seldom shoot it.

    Pheasant loads

I visited the "Boss" web site and review their shell offering...am a bit confused about their labels. They list a 20 GA 2 3/4" 7/8oz #7 as MAG. Is this a magnum shell? Opinion anyone??

Tom, Last week I encountered the same situation at Cabelas/Rogers - only a few Prairie Storm. Mills F. F. in chaska ocassionally gets a shipment but they are gone in hours. Walmart in E, Prairie stopped selling shells; not sure about the rest of the Walmart stores.

    Bare shelves

Prarie Storm is a bit much for this 20 GA shooter. My shoulder can barely handle 1 1/4 loads. Thanks for the update, however.

    Seizure

My 11-yr. Golden has a history of seizures, some lasting several minutes. They happen for no reason and there's little warning. I sit with him on the floor, stroke his back and try to calm him - seems to work.
