    Full gun cleaning

Ditto on the 20 ga. firing pin...in fact the gun went off by itself, when I was in the stand, after the bolt was released! Reported this to Browning - of course no comment from them. Been a good gun considering all the shells that I've put through it. Shooting the Open - you're way out of my...

    Full gun cleaning

I've shot a Gold since 2002, mainly for sporting clay's. Had some issues with extraction and found: Exterior plunger broken; Disconnector pin broken. Both replaced - have yet to fire the gun, but assume the Gunsmith gave it a good test. A bit chilly to try the gun on the sporty course!

Lots of hens - no roosters

Just returned (Jan. 18) from a trip to SD and was disappointed in the lack of roosters. Three- day planned hunt ended up two day's, due to lack of birds. The first two day's we flushed two different flocks of hens - both in excess of 50 birds...not a rooster among them. Several other fields...

Better Shooting - A Colorado Limit

For the past several years, keeping the hands warm has been a problem, especially my thumbs. I now have a pair of battery glove "liners" that I intend to use with special mittens, over the glove. The mittens have a slot so I can move the fingers out to the trigger; they also have a "heat...

    2021 Pheasant Hunting Videos

Thanks for the quick respond. I think I've been vastly under-powered with my 20 GA and not so heavy shells;time to make a change for the late winter hunt.

Favorite pant or chaps to hunt cattails in the snow?

Have worn rain pants for deep and wet snow and they work well. Under the pants, light-weight lounge pants. My legs sweat so this combo seem to work best, at least for me. Often a double layer can constrict leg movement; this combination doesn't. Good Luck with whatever you find.

    Party hunting pheasants in Iowa?

This is one of those laws that makes little sense and probably can't be enforced too well. If one is hunting with one other person, I suppose it's possible to sort out who's bird is who's. Five-six hunters surround a field and shoot several birds that end up in a central pile...who shot what...

    Nice hunt Saturday

Some dogs are afraid of getting lost...not mine. He's off to the hunt wherever it takes him - with or without me! Whistle, scream and some juice - most of the time it's ineffective! Why can't they be perfect??
